The Thompson Rivers University Friends of the Gardens (TRU FOG) was incorporated as a non-profit society in the spring of 2000 by a group of like-minded individuals interested in preserving, promoting, and expanding the horticulture activities on the Thompson Rivers University campus and within the greater Kamloops area. The group meets monthly as well as scheduling horticulture activities throughout the year, including speaker events and workshops, and our annual spring plant sale. The emphasis for FOG is education and sharing the love of gardening with others.
Our Mission
To enrich people’s lives through ongoing horticultural education and research programs.
This mission statement will be implemented in the following ways:
- Encourage and promote awareness of horticultural and related issues
- Create education opportunities for all age groups
- Properly exhibit, preserve and expand the TRU horticultural plant inventory
- Offer an exchange and provide evaluation of both new and heritage plant material
- Provide a bridge between TRU and the horticultural community
Membership in TRU FOG shall be open to any member of the public. An annual membership fee shall be established and reviewed by the Executive Committee of FOG, subject to ratification at the subsequent annual general membership meeting.
